Foreigner, a French national found dead inside his Kenyan girlfriends apartment in Diani in unclear circumstance.

A 64-year-old French man was on Saturday found dead inside his girlfriend’s residence in Diani, Kwale County.

The incident unfolded when the French man’s girlfriend, a Kenyan, left her residence in Diani on Monday, October 23 to head to her rural home in Meru according to a police report filed under OB 15/04/11/2023.

The woman was accompanied by her daughter who was to spend time at their rural home over the course of the school holidays.

However, she came back on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at around 8:00 a.m. only to find the door locked from inside. 

After knocking severally, she gained access to the house by opening using a spare key.

After opening the door, she was hit by a foul smell that directed her to the bedroom and found her boyfriend’s decomposing body.

According to the report, the Foreigner, a French national jetted into the country on September 14, 2023, and was expected to return to France on December 10, 2023.

The Tourist Police Unit attached to Diani Base arrived at the scene and cordoned off the house as a crime scene. 

The law enforcement officers also dusted the house to collect fingerprints for analysis.

Investigations have since been launched to establish the cause of death.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the foreigner did not have a history of suffering from ailments while his body showed no visible injuries.

“The scene was visited and necessary police action taken,” read part of the police report.

The foreigner’s body was moved to Jocham Hospital Mortuary in Mombasa, awaiting post-mortem.
