Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Chairperson Wafula Chebukati is critically ill.
The former IEBC boss is admitted to a hospital in Nairobi where he has been undergoing treatment for nearly a week.
Hospital sources told that the Star the Former IEBC boss is admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital.
“We are monitoring his situation at the ICU,” the source said.
What Chebukati ails from remains private.
Close family sources also said the former IEBC boss has been undergoing treatment at home and was taken to Nairobi Hospital after the situation got dire.

Chebukati served as IEBC chair for a full term of six years and retired in January 2023.
He chaired the IEBC during the 2017 and 2022 general elections.
Wafula Chebukati was a controversial figure who received both strong criticism and praise from different sides of the political divide.
The opposition was highly critical of Chebukati, while Ruto’s winning side praised him. In particular, Ruto referred to him as the hero of the elections.
