Raila now claims that the four Venezuelans including Jose Carmago back in Kenya to tinker with poll data in IEBC servers.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga asserted on Sunday that four Venezuelans, including one named Jose Carmago who was frequently mentioned during the Supreme Court hearings on the petition for the 2022 presidential election, are in the country in an effort to tamper with IEBC servers.

Speaking at Kamukunji public rally, Mr. Odinga claimed that they had located the suspects at the Maasai Mara Lodge, where they are currently staying while carrying out their “illegal operations.”

Mr. Odinga asserted that the people had met Wafula Chebukati, the former chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), and Ezra Chiloba, the chairman of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA).

“We have information that the mercenaries who accessed the servers during the elections, one of them Jose Carmago, are in the country. They were living at a hotel in Kileleshwa but left after realizing we were aware of their mission and moved to another hotel in Karen and are now at the Maasai Mara Lodge,” he said.

Opening of the IEBC election servers is among the issues put forward by Azimio in the bipartisan talks.

However, Ruto’s team dismissed the push by the opposition, insisting that the government had no powers to grant Azimio access to IEBC servers.

In other news, Raila Odinga said Azimio will resume anti-government protests next week should President William Ruto fail to heed their demands.

“If we don’t hear from Ruto next week, we shall resume mass protests immediately after Ramadhan,” Mr. Odinga announced.

He said his team was ready to engage President Ruto’s team of negotiators so long as their terms of engagement include lowering the high cost of living, opening of the election servers for audit, reconstitution of IEBC including devolving its structures, respect for multi-party democracy and subsequent withdrawal of Eldas MP Adan Keynan from the government’s team for the talks.

The Azimio leader said Azimio was committed to the talks but will continue with peaceful protests which he noted is guaranteed in the Constitution under Article 37.
