In a statement after the meeting, Matiang’i said they reaffirmed their friendship and strong working relationship under the United Opposition.
The former Interior Cabinet Secretary also said they discussed the challenges facing the Kenya Kwanza government and the need for effective management of the country and accountable leadership.
“We reaffirmed our friendship and strong working relationship within the United Opposition as we continue to pursue our vision to restore good leadership and fix the problems facing our country.
“We also reflected on the challenges facing the Kenya Kwanza regime and emphasized the need for accountable leadership and effective management of our country,” read part of the statement.
Matiang’i also said they discussed the need for the opposition to remain united to address the economic hardships facing Kenyans.
“We further reiterated the need to work together as Opposition leaders to save our country from the economic mess it currently faces,” Matiang’i added.

The meeting was attended by United Opposition head of secretariat Mukhisa Kituyi, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, Trans Nzoia MCAs, and county officials.
The meeting comes days after Matiang’i held a meeting with PLP party leader Martha Karua, PNU leader Peter Munya, UPIA leader Ukur Yattani, and Lenny Kuvuti.
In a statement after the meeting, Matiang’i said the discussion involved strengthening the opposition and restoring good leadership in the country.
“Our deliberations focused on the modalities of strengthening the Opposition in line with our steadfast mission to restore good leadership in our country,” said Matiang’i.
The former Interior Cabinet Secretary, who is eyeing the presidency in the 2027 General Election, has also been hosting delegations at his home in Nyansiongo, Nyamira County, as he moves to strengthen his political base.
