Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua convened a meeting with a section of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) lawyers at his Wamunyoro residence.

In the meeting, seen as part of Gachagua’s political strategy to unseat President William Ruto in the upcoming 2027 General Election, the parties discussed current state of Kenya’s politics.

“This morning, at our Wamunyoro residence, I had the privilege of having a candid discussion about the current state of our nation’s politics with a delegation of lawyers from the Law Society of Kenya led by Wakili Steve Mbugua,” Gachagua said in a social media post.

Gachagua described the conversation they had as thought-provoking, appreciating the lawyers’ insights into the complex matters of governance.

“It was a thought-provoking conversation that shed light on their perspectives and offered valuable insights into the complexities of our nation’s governance,” he added.

The LSK delegation brought a diverse range of expertise, from constitutional law to human rights and how to uphold and promote the fundamental rights and freedom of all people, which Gachagua believes will be instrumental in his political maneuvers.

Gachagua didn’t hold back on his political ambitions, confidently asserting his strategic plans to challenge Ruto head-on in the upcoming elections.

“It is very clear from the outset that their expertise and collective experience will bring a unique and valuable contribution to our plans as we head forward. The consultations continue,” he declared.

The meetings come following a statement made by Gachagua, that his political camp will easily defeat that of William Ruto in the 2027 polls.

The former DP committed to collaborating with all Kenyans to oppose Ruto’s administration, aiming to prevent his re-election in the 2027 general election.

Since his removal from office through impeachment in October 2024, Gachagua has been a vocal critic of Ruto’s government.

He further urged Kenyans to resist Ruto, accusing the president of intolerance and dictatorial practices, particularly in relation to policies like tax increments that led to widespread protests in June 2024.
