Gideon Moi handed a humiliating defeat as he loses the Baringo senatorial seat to Ruto’s UDA party.

KANU Chairman and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has lost his seat to William Cheptumo who vied on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

In results announced by the County Returning Officer, Cheptumo garnered 141,777 votes against Moi’s 71,480.

Cheptumo, who vied under a UDA ticket, has been serving as Baringo North MP for 15 years. 

Senator Moi was under the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya alliance and contested in a region highly dominated by the Kenya Kwanza coalition.

In the governor race, former Benjamin Cheboi (UDA) beat incumbent Stanley Kiptis (Independent) to reclaim the seat he lost in 2017. 

Cheboi got 137,486 votes as Mr. Kiptis came a distant third with 17,646. Moses Lessonet was second with 60,879 votes.
