Kenyans seeking to view affordable houses to part with KSh 200 for account activation through Boma Yangu platform.

Kenyans who are interested in exploring and adding affordable homes to their wish list must pay a modest cost of KSh 200, according to Boma Yangu, the central platform for the affordable Housing Programme.

This cost guarantees access to a variety of housing options, facilitating the realization of the home-ownership dream.

Those who are interested are encouraged to register by creating an eCitizen account and using the easy *832# USSD service or the user-friendly Boma Yangu portal to initiate the application process.

“When you register, your details will be verified by the relevant government agencies. To register, you must meet these conditions: Be a Kenyan citizen above 18 years of age and with a valid National Identity Card,” Boma Yangu explained.

Upon completing the registration, a payment of at least KSh 200 is required to activate the account and unlock the full spectrum of housing projects available for viewing.

Once registered, individuals are not restricted in the amounts they can save towards achieving their goal of owning a home.

“To activate your account, save a minimum of KSh 200. After activation, you can save any amount at any time, as many times as you wish through the various payment options available,” read Boma Yangu’s directive in part.

However, the assignment of a residence is contingent on several factors such as family status, demand in different housing categories, societal influences, and the timing of meeting the necessary deposit.

‘The initial eligibility for allocation will depend on several factors such as when you reached the amount of deposit required, family status and other social factors, as well as the demand across various housing categories.

Those who do not get an allocation in the first instance will be put on a waiting list to ensure they have priority in subsequent allocations.

For private sector projects, allocation will be done according to the terms and conditions of sale,” the statement read further.
