Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has rolled out the ‘Finya Computer Itoe Dollar’ free online training programme.

In a notice on Monday, February 19, the Ministry said the programme will equip Kenyan youth with knowledge and skills to enable them to freelance in remote jobs.

“The objective of the programme is to equip young people with the requisite knowledge, skills, and attitudes for digital/online work to enable them to access decent work and earn an income from the Gig & Freelancing Economy,” the Labour Ministry stated.

Basic modules in the programme include; data entry, digital marketing, and virtual assistance. AI for graphic design will be taught in the advanced module.

To be eligible for the ‘Finya Computer Itoe Dollar’ programme one must be a Kenyan citizen, be between the age of 18 and 35 and have proficiency in computer skills.

The free online training programme will be offered from March 4, 2024, to March 8, 2024.

According to the Ministry of Labour, the lessons will start at 8 AM and end at 5 PM.
