Shock as body of 72-year-old man found hanging in his homestead in a suspected suicide
A 72-year-old man on Sunday reportedly dies by suicide in Sugutek village, Chemalal sub-location, in Bomet county.
According to reports, the body of the man identified as Rasto Cheruiyot Sirma was found hanging by the neck on a cypress tree, in his homestead.
Area chief Samuel Kirui confirmed the incident, describing it as most unfortunate.
“This is shocking. I am urging families to share problems they face in life rather than resorting to death by suicide,” said Chief Kirui.
The body of the deceased was taken to Kapkatet sub-county hospital for postmortem as police launched investigations over the incident.

Meanwhile, the area residents have decried over the rising cases of death by suicide.
This was after another 28 -28-year-old man died by suicide by hanging himself on an avocado tree on October 31, 2023.
The residents have been asked to look out for signs of distress among family and other community members, and where possible offer help.
