Ruto government unveils Kazi Majuu accessed via GavaMkononi App to eliminate the middleman in search for jobs abroad.

President William Ruto introduced the Kazi Majuu platform, which can be accessible through the Gava Mkononi App, to guard Kenyans against being duped by dishonest agents tempting people with jobs abroad.

On Friday, June 30, Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua emphasized that the platform will link job seekers and potential employers in the diaspora during his remarks at the inauguration of the app (an application version of the eCitizen website) at the Kenyatta International Convention.

He added that the platform will eliminate the middleman to save gullible jobseekers from losing money or their lives when sent to intolerable work environments, especially in the Gulf states.

The software would not only assist Kenyans in finding employment overseas but also track and enable their remittances.

“We will be posting a lot of opportunities from all over the world. The app will connect you to agents in Kenya and other countries.

“However, you will also undertake a skills assessment test and also be cleared with immigration,” Mutua explained to Ruto.

The Ministry plans to deploy agents worldwide in a proactive plan to scout job opportunities attractive to Kenyans by December 2023 when the ministry finalizes the platform and other labour agreements.

“We are trying to get bilateral labour agreements with as many countries as possible. We have managed to secure quite a number,” Mutua assured Kenyans of the app’s success.

“We are also doing a bit of training since we are competing with other skilled workers from other nations and we are working to ensure Kenyans get the best deal through these agreements,” the CS explained.

Labour CS Florence Bore further elaborated on the government’s efforts to seal agreements with the Gulf states regarding the recruitment of domestic workers.

Kazi Majuu App, she stated, converged the services offered by different government agencies which limited the export of domestic labour.

Ruto, however, urged the two CSs to create an elaborate framework to ensure that not only domestic but also skilled workers benefit from the agreements.

The government aims to create a substantial number of job opportunities while targeting to employ 250,000 individuals through various partnerships.
