Government releases full calender of co-curricular for Primary, secondary, and colleges

Co-curricular dates/calender by the Ministry of Education.

The Ministry of Education has announced the dates for the 2023 co-curricular activities in primary and secondary schools, and colleges countrywide.

The co-curricular activities, including sports and drama festivals, will take place between April 20 and September 3.

Between April 20 and April 30, the Shimo la Tewa High School in Mombasa County will host the National Drama and Film Festival.

Between April 21 and April 25, the William Ole Ntimama Stadium in Narok County will host the Term One primary school athletics.

Between April 21 and April 26, the Moi Forces Academy in Nairobi County will host the Special Needs Education primary school athletics.

The Special Needs Education secondary school athletics will be held at the Nairobi School in the capital city on the same dates (April 21 to April 26).

Term One secondary school sports (athletics, basketball, hockey, handball, and swimming) are scheduled for April 22 to April 30 at the Hill School and Moi Girls’ High School, Eldoret, both in Uasin Gishu County.

The Kenya Science and Engineering Congress will be held at the Kisumu Girls’ High School in the lakeside city between April 22 and April 27.

The Kenya Music Festival is scheduled to take place at the Dedan Kimathi University of Technology in Nyeri County between August 12 and August 23.

The Special Needs Education primary school ball games will be held at the Kangaru School in Embu County between August 8 and August 14.

The primary school ball games for regular pupils will be held on the same dates at the Maseno School in Kisumu County.

The Special Needs Education secondary school sports will also take place between August 8 and August 14 at the Kangaru Girls’ High School in Embu County.

The Term Two secondary school sports (football, volleyball, netball, rugby, and racquet games) will be held at the Kakamega High School in Kakamega County between August 5 and August 14.

Co-curricular dates/calender for colleges

College athletics and Paralympics are scheduled for May 23 to May 27 at the Murang’a Teachers’ Training College in Murang’a County.

College ball games will take place between April 10 and April 15 at the Shanzu Teachers’ Training College in Mombasa County.

The East Africa Music, Dance, and Drama competitions are scheduled for August 26 to September 3 in Jinja and Tororo areas of eastern Uganda.

The Federation of East Africa Schools Sports Association championship will take place in Bujumbura, Burundi between August 15 and August 30.

The East Africa Essay Writing Competition for Secondary Schools will be held between April and November.

The dates were announced to the relevant education stakeholders, including the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), secondary school principals, and primary school head teachers, by Basic Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang.
