Government unveils new changes to end JKIA shame

Government through Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen announces new changes to improve service delivery at JKIA (Jomo Kenyatta International Airport)
Government through Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen announces new changes to improve service delivery at JKIA (Jomo Kenyatta International Airport).
The CS said in a statement dated Thursday that he has ordered the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) to purchase new 3D scanners, eliminating the need for airport staff to open passengers’ bags.
The high-tech devices resemble hospital CT scanners and generate 3D X-ray images.
Airport employees will be able to see the contents of a suitcase up close and analyze 360° photos thanks to new 3D scanners.
In addition, the CS directed that the roofs of terminal buildings 1B, 1C, and 1D be replaced in response to the leaks that were witnessed last month.

The government says the new regulation will safeguard the travelers’ belongings and guarantee their comfort.
However, he gave KAA instructions to make sure that passenger processing is quick and effective in order to prevent situations in which Kenyans miss their flights or have to stand in large lines.
Additional directives were given out about the installation of canopies over important walkways, the supply of sufficient restrooms, and the provision of extra secondary backup generators.
“These airports are threatened by upcoming development around them which pose safety concerns both for passengers, and the people living in these areas. I have instructed KCAA and KAA to do a comprehensive report on the structures around it with a view of security the airport lands,” the CS directed.
