Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has expressed interest in the presidency.
In an interview on Monday, November 25, he said he would be vying for president once he completes his job as Trans Nzoia county boss.
“Everything in politics is possible but from where I sit, once I’m done with the job that the people of Trans Nzoia have given me, my eyes are set firmly on the presidency,” he stated.
Natembeya also noted that he would not be considering a running mate position.
“You can’t change things when you are a deputy, the room for maneuver is very limited, and sometimes just giving advice can cause your impeachment,” he added.
Natembeya was elected as the governor of Trans Nzoia County on August 9, 2022, and he officially assumed office two months later.
He garnered 158,919 votes with his competitor Chris Wamalwa of Ford Kenya coming in second with 79,020 votes.
After his victory, he expressed profound gratitude to the residents for their overwhelming support and called for unity with his competitor.
“It is with profound humility that I accept the overwhelming support that I have been shown by the residents of Transnzoia- bestowing me with privileges to be their governor.

“To my competitor, I wish to request you we join hands to transform Transnzoia since this victory belongs to Trans-Nzoia residents therefore it will be a great honor as leaders to shelve our competitive aspects and focus to bring change,” he said at the time.
Before entering politics, Natembeya had a distinguished career in public service having served as a District Officer in 1996, working in various regions including Trans Mara and Nakuru.
He later served as a Personal Assistant to John Michuki, the former Minister for Security.
Natembeya held several key positions, including County Commissioner for Isiolo and Narok, and Regional Commissioner for Rift Valley.
His educational background includes a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Nairobi.
