Kathiani Member of Parliament (MP) Robert Mbui has chastised the Parliament over what he described as incompetency in formulating and shaping key policies that affect the country.
Speaking during an interview with a local TV station, the lawmaker expressed discontent with the parliament’s repeated pattern of changing their opinion on key policies whenever President William Ruto changes tune.
He believes that the continuous pattern as witnessed when the president cancelled multibillion-shilling deals with the controversial Adani Group after the MPs expressed their support has exposed the parliament for what it is.
He also stated that with the repeated change of tune to suit the president’s narrative, majority of the lawmakers will not be re-elected in 2027 for failing to serve the constituents.
“The parliament of Kenya is very far from fools because they are constantly changing their minds; they are 100 percent in support of a situation but when the Head of State speaks suddenly they are 100 percent in support of the complete opposite.

“I believe the Head of State exposed parliament for what it is, that is why my party leader said 95 percent of this parliament will never see parliament again because they have sold out their souls and have not done the jobs they were recruited to do,” he stated.
President Ruto on Thursday, November 21, 2024, announced the cancellation of two major deals with the Adani Group.
The two cancelled deals were expansion of the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA)and the Power Transmission Line Project.
This followed after the US Department of Justice indicted Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani and his nephew Sagar Adani over a bribery scheme involving more than 32 billion in payments to Indian government officials to secure solar energy contracts.
