Ruto considering Murkomen and Chirchir for Interior CS; Gachagua ally
Embakasi Central MP says Ruto is considering Murkomen and Chirchir for Interior Ministry CS Position.
Embakasi Central Member of Parliament Benjamin Gathiru alias Mejja Donk on Sunday revealed that he had obtained reliable information that cabinet secretaries Kipchumba Murkomen and Davis Chirchir were being considered for the Ministry of Interior docket.
Speaking on Sunday, November 24, during a church service at AIPCA Kangari in Murang’a County, Gathiru revealed that his intel indicated that one of the two was considered for the role as a thank-you gift for bringing in the controversial Indian company, Adani Holdings, to Kenya.
Gathiru also alleged that both Murkomen and Chirchir played an important role in bringing in the Adani Group to land a deal with the government.
”Those two ministers who were in the Energy and Transport dockets, they are the ones who signed with Adani saying that the company was good and therefore could be sold for the airport. Today, I have information that one of them is lined up for the Ministry of Interior job,’’ Gathiru revealed.
The lawmaker claimed that the plan to move one of the two to the influential Interior docket was a strategy to allow the government to bring Adani back through the back door.
”They want to get one of those ministers who brought Adani to the Ministry of Interior so that when Adani makes a comeback, he can be well hidden,’’ he added.
Gathiru asked President William Ruto instead to ensure that the Interior CS position is only given to an individual with a clean record.
”Please, if we are being given a new Interior CS, we demand that we be given an individual with a past clean record. Those with questionable pasts should stay aside,’’ Gathiru stated.

The MP’s comments came at a time when social media and political corridors were rife with a possible list of individuals who are likely to be nominated for the Interior CS by President William Ruto.
On Friday, former Health CS Mutahi Kagwe was given community blessings by the Kikuyu Council of Elders to be considered for the Interior job.
The elders from the Kikuyu community in a gathering held in Nyeri, unanimously expressed support for Kagwe’s inclusion in President William Ruto’s government.
“We have confidence in Mutahi Kagwe’s ability to lead and serve our people effectively. His appointment would not only rectify the current lack of representation from Nyeri but also ensure that our interests are adequately addressed at the national level,” stated one elder.
The Cabinet reorganization seems to be in the offing, with Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi currently holding more than 2 dockets in the ministries of Interior, Gender, and Foreign Affairs.
