Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has raised concerns over his safety after a live bullet struck a house just a short distance from his Kibiku residence on Sunday, November 30.
The governor was in the compound inspecting his home when the projectile pierced a neighbour’s rooftop, landing close to a child’s bed.
The family said they were left shaken after hearing a loud, abrupt bang on the roof, only to later discover that a bullet had torn through the iron sheets and lodged inside the house.
Wamatangi said experts who examined the projectile believe it was fired from a powerful rifle, raising further concerns about the distance and intent behind the shot.
He explained that its trajectory suggested the shooter may have been positioned far beyond the immediate area.
“This bullet, experts say, was fired from a high-caliber gun like an AK-47. That means from where we are standing, about 50 meters from my house, the shooter was probably another 200 meters further,” he said.

The neighbour, who discovered the bullet inches from a child’s sleeping area, recounted the terrifying moment the object struck the rooftop.
She said she initially dismissed the sound, thinking a stone had landed on the structure, before realizing the seriousness of the situation.
“I heard something hit the iron sheets, and when I checked I first thought it was a stone. I went and brushed off the dust from the bed; I didn’t think it was a bullet. Then I saw a hole in the roofing sheets, and that’s when I realized it was a bullet,” she explained.
This comes months after Homa Bay Deputy Governor Oyugi Magwanga decried that his life is in danger following an attack on one of his vehicles by gunmen.
Speaking to the media on Monday, May 12, Magwanga revealed that he had received credible information that some individuals were trailing him while heading home on Sunday.
This forced the former Kasipul MP to change his usual route. However, another vehicle with his security detail was attacked when coming to protect him at his home.
