There is heightened security in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) amid anticipated protests from the Azimio la Umoja one Kenya opposition coalition.

Deployments started at midnight on Sunday with police at times mounting roadblocks to inspect approaching vehicles.

Dozens of lorries, armed personnel, and water cannons along city estates and the CBD heading west as the General Service Unit and other contingents of the police service continued being deployed mainly to hotspots across the country.

Security forces have been deployed near government buildings, including State Houses, stadiums, and prominent squares.

In addition, the General Service Unit (GSU) officers barricaded several roads in Nairobi.

GSU trucks were positioned on roads leading to State House including the Processional Way and State House Road to prevent the entry of vehicles.
