Francis Murigu, an accountant who was homeless for 23 years and lived in a cave, was found dead in his new home just after he moved in September.

The deceased gained online fame in May after it was discovered that he had lived in a cave with his son for over 23 years in Makuyu Murang’a County.

With the exception of his lone son, who kept him company in a Murang’a cave, the dead was a former accountant who had been abandoned by his wife and children.

His well-wishers banded together and, with the help of MC Wanyoike wa Mugure, raised funds online to build him a house.

Part of the funds were also used to take Murigu to the Mathare Mental Hospital for mental evaluation and treatment, where he spent time until September 11.

Murigu moved in with his son on September 14 in a colorful ceremony organized by well-wishers.

The new house was a two-bedroom blue-themed house with a wooden ceiling and a modern kitchen.

Mugure ensured the house had a toilet and bathroom, clay stove, and other facilities for the man’s comfort.

However, his stay at his new home was short-lived after he was found dead in his room by his son.

The MC shared the news online condoling with the family of the deceased.

“My heart is broken I am just heartbroken. He slept during the day when his son went to wake him up but he was no more,” Wanyoike remarked.
