How cherera and the Co were forced to drop their resignation letters at State House Gate

Cherera and other two IEBC commissioners were forced to drop their resignation letters at State House Gate
Cherera and other two IEBC commissioners were forced to drop their resignation letters at State House Gate.
The three dissident former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners were forced to hand-deliver their resignation letters at the State House gate, according to Jubilee Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni.
Speaking to local media on January 24, Kioni claimed former IEBC vice-chairs Juliana Cherera, Justus Nyang’aya, and Francis Wanderi’s resignation letters couldn’t be accepted electronically, which is why an alternative delivery method was used.
According to Kioni, the three reached out to him, lamenting their plight.
“I sympathize with these commissioners. From day one, the Executive decided to kick them out. They called and told me that it is difficult for them as they were told to write their resignation letters, but they were not received. They had to take them to the State House as nobody else received the letters.
“Can you imagine yourself taking a letter to State House, and that’s when it’s picked? They were mistreated completely?” Kioni complained.
The secretary-general also claimed that the trio were forced to resign after they were frustrated.
He further asserted that the tribunal, presided by Judge Aggrey Muchelule of the Court of Appeal, had a secret grudge against the quartet, including Irine Masit.
“If you look at Cherera, whom I met after this debacle, she is not the one you see on camera. She’s a young lady who is passionate about serving the country.
“You’re not going to find her with a bag of millions from which she can pay her lawyers. Some of us, when we are faced with such tribulations, quickly fold and choose to focus on our family,” Kioni highlighted.

The Jubilee politician added that the Cherera Four were allegedly kept busy with international duties while a scheme to manipulate the August 9 General Election was underway.
“During the election period, they were given assignments, which is normal. Some were told to be in charge of receiving dignitaries, but the other commissioners were busy cooking things.
“Remember, they came on board in April 2022, and elections happened in August that year. If the other commissioners were conducting underhanded things, it was very difficult for any new person to come and unearth the mysteries.
“It’s the responsibility of the IEBC chairperson to ensure everything was put on the table and bring the other new people on board as quickly as possible. If it is the intention of the other commissioners to put you in the dark, you will be in the dark,” he pointed out.
