How Nation Media scholarship saved my relationship; Kalonzo

Kalonzo Musyoka has narrated how a scholarship by the Nation Media Group saved him from a potential breaking up with his wife, Pauline Musyoka
Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has narrated how a scholarship by the Nation Media Group saved him from a potential breaking up with his wife, Pauline Musyoka.
Speaking during an interview with comedian Nasra Yusuf on Saturday, October 26, the former Vice President disclosed how Pauline approached him seeking to end their thirteen-year-old courtship to study abroad.
While recounting the past event, Kalonzo revealed the message left him dumbfounded and heartbroken, stating that he could not bear the fact that the breakup came unexpectedly after spending thirteen years together with the hope for a hand in marriage.
According to the Azimio coalition principal, despite efforts to stop the looming breakup, Pauline declined his suggestion and instead, insisted on parting ways with him.
“My wife knows what we went through during the thirteen years of courtship, at one point he suggested that we should break up, I said no, it cannot happen,” Kalonzo narrated.
Amidst adamant calls for separation, Kalonzo recalled going for a scholarship interview sponsored by the Nation Media Group.
According to the Wiper party leader, he utilised the rare opportunity and performed exceeding well, granting him the chance to study in Cyprus.
Kalonzo revealed that the scholarship changed the trajectory of the breakup as both travelled abroad with Pauline jetting to India for studies while he travelled to Cyprus.
After several months, the duo were able to meet again after which they tied the knot.
“So I went for a scholarship interview, I performed very well and I was given a scholarship sponsored by the Nation Media Group and Rotary Club of Nairobi. She was shocked after I won the scholarship so we both travelled abroad, she went to India and I went to Cyprus,” Kalonzo narrated.

Meanwhile, during the interview, Kalonzo Musyoka also addressed allegations that the Azimio coalition had been scuttled after a section of politicians from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party joined President William Ruto’s cabinet.
Kalonzo maintained that the opposition coalition was still strong despite four ODM party members individually accepting the decision to take cabinet secretary positions in Ruto’s administration.
“The fact that we disagreed with Raila does not mean that is the end of the Azimio coalition. The coalition is based on fundamental issues and unless we sit and make a resolution to wind it up, it is still a coalition. Azimio la Umoja is still intact legally,” Kalonzo clarified.
“Raila made it clear that they are in opposition, so, now what waits to be seen is to demonstrate their presence in the opposition,” the Wiper leader added.
