Raila was on Friday, 5, May, 2023 denied access to Shakahola forest despite making calls to senior government officials according to reports.

Raila Odinga’s push to access Shakahola forest was ruled out yesterday by the police.

This was despite making several phone calls to a top Kenya Kwanza official who didn’t even bother to pick his calls.

According to a publication by Saturday standard, the former premier allegedly called senior government officials including interior cabinet secretary Kithuri Kindiki five times in an attempt of accessing Shakahola graveyard.

In response, Kindiki failed to pick up any of Raila Odinga’s calls ; a move that forced police officers to stand firm on orders from the above.

“I have called interior cabinet secretary Kithuri Kindiki five times but he didn’t pick up my calls”, Mr. Odinga lamented.

The revealations come after the Azimio leader was denied entry into the Shakahola forest Friday, with police saying access was restricted due to the ongoing operation.

“Why are you restricting access yet this is a public area,” Malindi MP Amina Mnyazi demanded to know from police during a brief exchange.

But a senior police officer at the entry point was categorical that the leaders will not be allowed in.

“Tell us who to call if it is the Inspector General of police. How do you walk out of Baba (Raila),” ranted an infuriated Gertrude Mbeyu, the Kilifi MP.

In a statement, Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua as well wondered why the state denied Azimio principals entry.

” What is the Ruto regime hiding about shakahola that may be informing this behavior including the barring of media”, Karua wrote.
