Detectives in Trans Nzoia County have arrested the husband of a missing woman, Caroline Mokeira, as part of their investigation into her disappearance.

Police say Mokeira’s husband Tobias Keller Mouko and a woman who was arrested alongside him could have crucial information on the whereabouts of the mother of three, who has been missing since October 17, 2025.

Tobias was presented at the Kitale Law Courts, where police sought to have him detained as they continue with their investigation.

Investigators argued that the suspect, who is the father of Mokeira’s three children, could have crucial information on her whereabouts.

Alongside Tobias was another woman, whom police are treating as a possible accomplice in the probe. The two are suspected of being behind the disappearance of Mokeira on October 17 in Kitale.

The husband did not give a satisfactory account of where she was and ended up giving two contradicting statements.

This saw Mokeira’s family file a police report, and a missing person probe was launched, leading to the arrest of the two.

After consideration of applications from both parties, the court ruled Tobias and the lady be detained for a further ten days as investigations continue.

Caroline Mokeira’s family continues to appeal for information on her whereabouts.
