Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has spoken about his final moments with the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, revealing that in the last ten days before his death, Odinga became unreachable.
Speaking on Saturday evening during an interview on TV47, Kalonzo disclosed that in the final days leading to Raila’s demise, he repeatedly tried to reach out to the deceased but to no avail, a silence that he said left him unsettled.
He noted that the main reason he tried to reach Raila was to invite him to the Wiper National Delegates Conference, but his calls remained unanswered.
“We used to speak. However, for the last ten days before he died, I tried several times to call him, but he was not available,” Kalonzo revealed.
“I wanted to invite him to the Wiper delegates conference just the same way he invited me to the ODM congress. With his absence, I felt that something was not right,” he added.
But his efforts to reach Raila did not end there; the former Vice President noted that after several failed attempts to reach Odinga, he opted to contact former President Uhuru Kenyatta regarding Raila’s whereabouts.

According to Kalonzo, he reached out to Uhuru, who informed him that he had spoken to Raila, revealing that Odinga assured him that he was fine and was preparing to jet back to Kenya.
“I tried several times to call him, but he was not available. I then called Uhuru Kenyatta, who informed me that he had talked to Raila, who informed him that he was okay and preparing to come back home,” the Wiper party leader noted.
During the interview, Kalonzo insisted that his personal relationship with Raila went beyond politics, recalling periods when he used to watch football alongside Raila and Uhuru Kenyatta.
The Wiper leader emphasised that his relationship with the former Prime Minister was rooted in friendship, noting that they used to watch Arsenal games together with Raila, who happened to be a staunch supporter of the English Premier League club.
“Raila was a man who valued friendship, and we were both great fans of Arsenal Football Club. We used to go to the club to watch football together,” Kalonzo narrated.
He further noted that Raila was a key figure who reshaped Kenya’s political direction and that his legacy will live on forever. Meanwhile, the former Prime Minister passed away on Wednesday, October 15, with his burial expected to take place on Sunday, October 19.
