I won't be involved in case of handshake with Raila; Gachagua warns Ruto

Gachagua warns Ruto he won't be involved there should be a handshake with Azimio coalition leader Raila Odinga

Gachagua warns Ruto he won’t be involved there should be a handshake with Azimio coalition leader Raila Odinga.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said that if there will be a handshake between opposition chief Raila Odinga and President William Ruto, he will not be involved.

He stated that he did not want to shake Raila’s hand either while speaking in Kiambu County on Thursday during the oil consecration ceremony at AIPCA Church.

“Those people should leave me alone. I am not a hardliner; I am just saying what my bosses want. My people do not want a handshake – or do you? He said the other day that he does not want to shake my hand, do I look like I would accept his greeting? ” Gachagua asked.

DP Gachagua said nothing good comes out of a handshake.

“He had a handshake with our prince who was a good person full of respect but later, you all saw what happened. Even if there is a handshake, I as Rigathi Gachagua will not be there,” he said.

“You might have a handshake and your things change. Can you tell me to have a handshake with him? I can’t and I won’t be there. For me, I am the husband to a pastor.”

He said that Azimio Coalition want half of the government while they had a chance but they failed.

“It does not matter whether they cheer or jeer me. There is no way those who did not plant anything harvest. You know I found them in a queue at State House. Those who had not planted anything were at the forefront and those who planted were at the back,” he said.

“I decided my job will be to push forward those who planted and ask those who planted nothing to go to the back. This is why they are asking to share the government and they claim I am the one being a hardliner.”

Additionally, he stated that the state would nominate certain AIPCA members to government positions as a way of showing their appreciation for their support during the elections.

“I wish to suggest that this church will be the subject of plans. I’ll invite the Bishops and the top brass of this church, and I’ll also take them to President Ruto so we can chat. The AIPCA church has a significant number of shares in this government, as I already stated, the DP remarked.
