National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah has affirmed that he is not eyeing to replace Deputy President nominee Kithure Kindiki as the next Interior CS.
Speaking on Monday, October 21, Ichung’wah noted that he had a job to do in the National Assembly and was not interested in becoming a CS.
“I have heard a leader suggesting here that I should become the Interior CS. But I want to tell that leader that I have a job and I don’t want people to get confused.
“I am not interested in the CS job. I have a job that I was given by Kikuyu constituents and these MPs also gave me a job as their leader in the National Assembly. And that is the job I pray to continue with,” Ichung’wah remarked.
The Kikuyu MP further commended Members of Parliament for working together during the impeachment process of ousted deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.
He claimed that he did not lead in the process because he wanted another job but because of the love of Kenya.

“You saw I led the impeachment motion in the National Assembly and I want to thank our MPs because we worked together. And it is not because we hated an individual but because we loved the people of Kenya than individual interests. I did not do that work so that I get another job,” Ichung’wah stated.
His remarks come after the National Assembly approved the nomination of Kindiki as the next deputy president.
However, the court issued conservatory orders barring the appointment of Kindiki until a petition filed by Gachagua is heard and determined.
The matter will be heard on Tuesday, October 22.
