The Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, is mourning the death of his father, Mzee Weston Kirocho Kanja, who passed away on Tuesday, October 14.
In an update on Monday, October 20, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said its Director, Mohamed Amin, led senior officials in visiting the Inspector General to convey their sympathies.
“This evening, the Director of Criminal Investigations, Mr. Mohamed Amin, visited the Inspector General of the National Police Service, Mr. Douglas Kanja, MGH, CBS, OGW, to offer his condolences following the passing of his father, Mzee Weston Kirocho Kanja, on October 14, 2025,” the DCI stated.
The DCI further expressed solidarity with the Inspector General and his family during their time of mourning.

We are united in mourning their loss and offer our deepest sympathies as they navigate this challenging period,” the statement added.
The news comes a day after former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was laid to rest at his ancestral home in Kang’o Ka Jaramogi, Bondo, Siaya County.
The burial, held on Sunday, October 19, followed a funeral service held at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST), where leaders and dignitaries gathered to pay their final respects.
