William Ruto is set for an intense development tour of Mt Kenya region where he’s set to launch several projects.

According to the itinerary provided by the State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, Ruto’s five-day development tour would kick off on Saturday, August 5. 

The five-day tour will begin on Saturday morning with a road trip from Nairobi, marked by stop-overs in Githurai and Kenol.

“The development, tour begins tomorrow, on Saturday 5th August 2023. 

The president will kick off the tour in Githurai, Kiambu County, where he’ll commission the Githurai Water Supply Project. The project will supply about 35,000 cubic meters of water per day to serve over 500,000 residents of Ruiru Githurai Mwihoko and Kahawa and provide water connections to about 8,400 people,” Mohamed said. 

He explained that Ruto would then commission the redevelopment of the Githurai market as part of his pledge to build over 400 markets to dignify Mama Mbogas’ hustle. 

Ruto will then on Saturday commission the Kagio water supply project in Kagio Town, Kirinyaga County, and the upgraded 42.5km Marua-Kwa Wambui Road.

On Sunday, August 6, Ruto will host an interdenominational prayer service at the Sagana state lodge and, later in the afternoon, chair a meeting with the region’s leadership. 

The President will also open the Nyeri Stage and Bus Park on Monday.

Ruto will also witness the opening of a three-storeyed, 175-bed capacity Level IV Hospital in Naromoru as well as the opening of a new KCC facility in Kiganjo on Tuesday.

Ruto will also witness the groundbreaking of the Gichugu Affordable Housing Programme in Kirinyaga county which entails the construction of 140 housing units.

Besides the commissioning and launching of new projects, the President will also chair a Cabinet meeting at Sagana State Lodge and host a regional leaders conference at the same venue on Tuesday.
