Kalonzo responds to Ruto remarks that opposition leaders are stupid and visionless
Wiper Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has issued a sharp rebuke to President William Ruto following remarks the Head of State made during his tour of Ukambani, where he allegedly referred to opposition leaders as “stupid and visionless.”
Speaking on Thursday night in Muumbuni North Ward, Machakos County, where he met more than 1,000 residents, Kalonzo accused President Ruto of using abusive language instead of addressing the concerns of Kenyans struggling under what he termed a failed administration.
Kalonzo said only a leader “lacking in wisdom” would abduct citizens or allow security forces to harm them simply for expressing dissatisfaction with government policies.
“Only a stupid leader will abduct Kenyans and kill them for trying to express their dissatisfaction with a rogue regime,” Kalonzo told the crowd.
He was accompanied by several Wiper MPs and Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, alongside her deputy Francis Mwangangi, who also criticized the President’s conduct.
The leaders said they boycotted Ruto’s development tour in Machakos because his remarks were disrespectful and unbecoming of a Head of State.
The opposition is now demanding that President Ruto formally apologises to the Kamba community for what they describe as degrading and inflammatory statements.

Meanwhile, Governor Wavinya Ndeti intensified the criticism on Friday during the traditional wedding ceremony of Pastor Ezekiel Odero and Pastor Sarah in Kikumini, Emali.
Wavinya accused the President of showing contempt for the region through his repeated attacks on opposition leaders — in particular, Wiper boss Kalonzo Musyoka.
She insisted that Kalonzo is regarded as the region’s political kingpin and therefore any insult directed at him is an insult to the entire Kamba community.
“Ruto ameonyesha Wakamba madharau sana. Anakuja hapa Ukambani kututukana sisi; ukitusi Kalonzo, ni sisi umetusi,” she said.
“Ukiambia mtoto baba yake hana akili, inamaanisha mama yake na familia yote haina akili.”
Wavinya warned that the Kamba community would not tolerate disrespect from anyone, regardless of their position.
The war of words now adds fresh tension to the already strained relationship between the Kenya Kwanza administration and the Azimio coalition, with leaders from Ukambani insisting that President Ruto must retract his remarks and respect regional leadership.
