Kalonzo reveals the only condition Azimio will recognize Ruto

Kalonzo maintains Raila won the August election adding that Azimio will recognize Ruto if the IEBC servers are opened

Kalonzo maintains Raila won the August election adding that Azimio will recognize Ruto if the IEBC servers are opened.

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has said the opposition will only recognize William Ruto as president if the IEBC servers are opened and his victory in the 2022 elections can be verified.

In an interview with a Tanzania media -Star TV on Saturday, Kalonzo insisted that Azimio leader Raila Odinga won the August 9, presidential elections.

He claimed that Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition had unanimously chosen not to recognize Ruto as president unless there is indisputable proof to the contrary.

“Kama server ikifunguliwa na uwazi ujulikane under the Constitution basi hakutakuwa na shida kusema mheshimiwa rais William Ruto,” Kalonzo said.

Kalonzo however said it remains indisputable that former President Uhuru Kenyatta handed over the tools of leadership to Ruto.

“Hata hivo tunajua yeye ndiye mwenye mamlaka. Alikabidhiwa na Uhuru Kenyatta…” he said.

In addition, Kalonzo responded to reports suggesting that Raila Odinga left him and other Azimio bigwigs out of talks with Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu.

The Wiper leader confirmed that indeed Raila met Suluhu without his Azimio entourage but clarified that Raila kept them informed on all developments.

He added that Suluhu’s itinerary was to talk with Raila and President William Ruto before meeting other leaders.

“Raila invited Karua and I plus other top Azimio leaders for lunch. During that time, he told us that he had communicated with the Tanzanian government about Suluhu’s visit,” Kalonzo cleared the air.

“We thought it was wise for Raila to hear out Suluhu. We asked him not to make any commitments before talking to us,” Kalonzo explained.

Kalonzo also seized the opportunity to apologize to the Tanzanian people for what he described as humiliation of their President by Ruto.

While the Azimio faction continues to insist that Suluhu was in Kenya at Ruto’s invitation, the government has chosen to remain silent and has not provided a clear statement on the matter.
