Kalonzo’s chopper develops technical problem midway to a campaign rally in Homa Bay
Kalonzo’s chopper on Sunday, July 3, developed an engine malfunction while on his way to a campaign rally in Homa Bay County.
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka was headed to Oyugis where he was to join the Azimio team for a political rally in Nyanza Region.
The Wiper leader was forced to delay in Suswa, Narok, waiting for another helicopter to pick him up.
Kalonzo speaks on the incident
Speaking to the media, Kalonzo’s Communications Director Paloma Gatabaki confirmed the incident.
She added that the former VP was been evacuated by another helicopter and would attend subsequent Azimio rallies in Homa Bay.
Kalonzo’s chopper mulfunction
Paloma Gatabaki revealed that the pilots had discovered the issue prior to takeoff, preventing the Wiper leader from boarding the plane.
“You drive a car, there is always an issue with a car somewhere or the other. that is what happened with the chopper but they are on their way and are fine. It was headed in Homabay.
“His Excellency (Kalonzo) was not on the flight. He was where he was with his people. He is already in Homa Bay and he is fine,” Gatabaki stated.
She further insisted that Kenya has great pilots who were able to detect the mechanical problem before endangering any individual’s life.
“We have some of the most brilliantly trained pilots in Africa so if they see something that they are not feeling, they don’t even board a flight. They could not even allow the chopper to leave that stage,” she added.
