Karua speaks on working with Gachagua ahead of 2027

Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua has expressed willingness to work with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua
Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua has expressed willingness to work with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Monday, December 23, Karua noted that she would be open to working with like-minded leaders in opposing President William Ruto’s policies.
However, she confirmed that they had not engaged in talks over forging an alliance.
Karua acknowledged that she had earlier been irritated by the actions of Gachagua while in government, adding that they were not enemies.
“I have not talked to him and he has not sought me out but I cannot rule out talking to anybody. He is not my enemy. Kenya has one common enemy and he is called William Ruto and his regime. The fact that I have not talked to him does not make him my enemy,” she stated.

“He may have done things that irritated or annoyed me but that is life. People can always fix the broken but at the moment we were not talking.”
Karua was one of the leaders who criticized Gachagua for his remarks and conduct in government.
Notably, the two were the running mates for the two front-running candidates in the 2022 pols and even battled it out in the Deputy Presidential Debate.
Meanwhile, Gachagua, after his impeachment, revealed plans to talk with other leaders ahead of the 2027 polls with the possibility of forming a team to oust Ruto from office.
Currently, indications are that Kalonzo and Gachagua will be working together ahead of the polls.
