Police in Rongo, Migori County on Thursday launched a manhunt for a Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) candidate who cut a fellow pupil’s hand over a piece of biscuit.
According to reports, a quarrel ensued between the two pupils of Kasodo Primary School, prompting one to unleash a knife which he used to chop his classmate’s finger before going into hiding
The sad episode occurred as a result of a disagreement between the two over a cookie, with both arguing about who should get it.
Some have asserted that the candidate severed the entire hand, while others have just stated that the student severed a finger.
The two engaged in the fight hours after completing their KCPE examinations.
Teachers and other students were stunned by the incident amid an increase in the number of juvenile victims of violent crimes.
The pupil was rushed to the hospital where he received treatment.

Meanwhile, police officers have since launched investigations into the matter and have begun searches to bring the suspect to book.
Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and KCPE examinations came to a close Wednesday where approximately 2.6 million students across 33,000 centers sat for the exams.
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu on Wednesday noted the marking of the exams had commenced and results would be released before Christmas.
Basic Education principal secretary Dr. Belio Kipsang further stated that the three-day exam period was successful and they recorded a minimal number of teenage pregnancies this year.
