Four arrested for robbing a foreign couple and forcing them to apologize for visiting Kenya
Four suspects apprehended after they allegedly attacked and robbed a foreign couple of Ksh.15.5 million in a gold scam.
On Wednesday, four guys were taken into custody in Nairobi’s Runda neighborhood for luring and robbing an Australian couple out of Ksh13.5 million in an alleged gold scam.
The suspects allegedly used the promise of gold to entice the couple from Kampala, Uganda, according to a police complaint.
In addition to losing their belongings, they were assaulted, tormented, and even made to apologize for entering Kenya without authorization.
The couple – an Australian man and his Ugandan wife – are said to have been lured into Kenya from Uganda by Jack Ouma Okwiri, Nashon Otieno Angudha, Felix Ochieng’ Nyongesa, and Ronald Arani Kirera proposing a gold business deal to be transacted in Nairobi.
Police records show that the couple was introduced to the suspects by a Kenyan in Uganda who told them that the suspects have gold which they can sell at a cheaper price.
According to the police, all the conversations happened via the popular messaging app WhatsApp.
Further, police stated that the suspects sexually assaulted the couple and subjected them to orgies during the ordeal.
The incident happened at a house in upmarket Runda’s Glory Road.
After initially agreeing to the deal, the couple drove to the house.
At the house, the tourists met at least 10 men who attacked and robbed them of US$60,000, a gold necklace worth US$10,000, and a Rolex watch worth US$20,000.
The man broke his hand and injured his stomach during the incident and was also threatened with death.

Money counting machines, metallic boxes, forged certificates of mines, customs reflector jackets, military boots, KRA certificates, stamps, a Kenyan flag, and fake gold metal bars were recovered from the Runda office, according to the DCI.
The woman narrated that she was handcuffed and forced to apologize allegedly for being in the country illegally.
After the ordeal, the suspects bundled the couple in the car they used and dumped them near Rehema House in Nairobi’s CBD.
Good Samaritans helped them to a South B hospital where they were treated before reporting to DCI Gigiri,” DCI wrote.
