KDF discloses burial plans of CDF Francis Ogolla

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) confirmed the burial preparations for General Francis Ogolla, the late Chief of Defence Forces.
In a statement on Friday, April 19, KDF stated that General Ogolla would be buried on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at his home in Ng’iya village, Siaya County.
According to the KDF, the burial will follow his last requests and adhere to established military procedures.
A post-mortem examination was also performed at the Mashujaa Funeral Home at the Defence Forces Memorial Hospital.
The military honours ceremony will also take place on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang’ata at 1 p.m.
“The honours will include a church service, military parade and a 19-gun salute. A detailed programme for the ceremony will be made public as soon as it’s ready,” read the statement by KDF in part.

The military honours ceremony will be attended by President William Ruto, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
Senior government officials, Parliamentary leadership, the judiciary, political leaders, security sector commanders, and diplomats will all be in attendance.
On Sunday, April 21, 2024, the deceased’s remains will be transported to Alego Usonga Sub-county, Siaya County, for burial the same day.
“This will be preceded by a church service at his local church in Nduru,” KDF noted. “Additionally, a memorial service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, Lang’ata, in line with the wishes of the family.”
General Ogolla died on Thursday, April 18, in a military helicopter crash in Elgeyo Marakwet County. The military chief perished alongside nine other commanders.
