Kenya Kwanza alleges NIS Boss Noordin Haji is Raila, Uhuru's spy in Ruto government

Kenya Kwanza politicians now claim new NIS boss Noordin Haji is Raila, Uhuru's spy in Ruto government and could be their mole

Kenya Kwanza politicians now claim new NIS boss Noordin Haji is Raila, Uhuru’s spy in Ruto government and could be their mole.

A month after beginning his position, Noordin Haji, the director general of the National Intelligence Service (NIS), is no longer trusted by some of the lawmakers close to President William Ruto.

The leaders assert that Haji may be their snitch in the administration because of his connections to opposition leader and former president Uhuru Kenyatta.

The former director of public prosecutions took over the reins at the intelligence service on June 14 after the end of General Philip Kameru’s tenure.

During their last meeting at State House in Nairobi, the Kenya Kwanza leaders alleged that Haji could be spying for the opposition saying that he has been attempting to mediate a cease-fire between the president and Raila.

Besides Raila, the leaders claim Haji also has close ties with the retired president.

“It should be understood that Haji has been spotted meeting with Raila Odinga and Uhuru. He should decide whether he is an Azimio politician or a public servant,” Taifa Leo quoted one of the MPs present during the meeting as having said.

The paper further reported that some of the lawmakers wanted Haji’s conduct debated by Senate and National Assembly over what they termed as complacency in the opposition demonstrations.

President Ruto on May 16 nominated Haji to assume the NIS position. He was sworn in June 14, 2023 as the new Director-General of the National Intelligence Service (NIS).

Haji has been the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) since July 2021.

He took over the position amidst opposition from some civil organisations, who argue that he is not fit to hold the office on integrity matters.

The lobby groups, under the banner National Integrity Alliance (NIA), argued that the chief prosecutor failed to fulfil his constitutional obligations while serving as the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
