The 40-year-old woman from Kenya was arrested on Sunday at Mumbai Airport after she was caught smuggling gold worth Ksh29 million.

The accused, identified as Sahra Mohamed Omar, was apprehended at the airport by the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of the Customs Department after her arrival from Nairobi.

Omar was intercepted near the exit gate of the Customs arrival baggage hall after she crossed the green channel and was proceeding towards the main exit.

She held a passport issued by the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, which was valid until 2032.

Omar had arrived in Mumbai from Nairobi on Kenya Airways flight number KQ202 on September 30, according to a Customs officer.
