Juja Deputy County Commissioner heckled as he read Ruto’s speech during Mashujaa Day celebrations.

It was a dramatic scene during the 61st celebrations of Mashujaa day in Juja when patriotic citizens turned wild and heckled as President William Ruto’s speech was being read out.

Everything was rolling on smoothly until Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) stood to read a speech from President William Ruto.

Juja DCC, who was tasked with delivering the speech on Tuesday, met a hostile audience who started jeering immediately he began reading the president’s speech.

Irate residents, both young and old, heckled as the DCC took stage to deliver the speech on behalf of the Head of State. Some attendees stood up, ignored the speech and walked around.

The noises built up into chants of “Ruto Must Go” which were sang in unison drowning the voice of the Deputy County Commissioner who was trying to subdue the growing noise with the use of a public address system.

In a video clip shared online, people spread out in a barely full football field, made noises, and caused a commotion forcing the official to abandon delivering the speech.

Juja’s Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) was the latest leader to be met with public uproar against President Ruto’s regime. People have seemingly resorted to booing leaders representing the president in public events, a trend that is on the rise.

The widespread heckling against leaders comes on the backdrop of the impeachment of the embattled Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua coupled with dissatisfaction by the trajectory the country is taking.

The booing at Juja came exactly a week after senior economic advisor to the president, Moses Kuria was heckled at an entertainment joint in Githurai 44.

The outspoken former CS was forced to cut short his speech as revellers booed him when he took to the stage to address the crowd. The irate revellers continuously chanted anti-President William Ruto’s slogans seemingly in protest of the push to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

The previous week on Friday October 11, Nakuru County Governor Susan Kihika was met with a similar fate when she tried to deliver President Ruto’s speech. The incident unfolded during a funeral held in Bibilioni village, Bahati Constituency in Nakuru County.

Same script unfolded when the governor announced to the mourners that she was sent by President Ruto to condole with the family. Her attempts to read the speech were thwarted as mourners jeered at her chanting anti-government slogans.

Susan Kihika, a member of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) was jeered till she gave up on reading the speech from the president.
