Kivutha joins Ruto’s legal team
Kivutha joins Ruto’s legal team ahead of the Supreme Court battle in a case challenging the outcome of the presidential elections.
Outgoing Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana has joined President-elect William Ruto’s legal team in a case filed by Azimio leader Raila Odinga challenging Ruto’s win.
The Azimio team led by Raila Odinga filed a petition and promised a battle that will prove their claim of substantial rigging in the just concluded presidential election.
And now Kibwana has also joined Ruto’s legal team on the presidential petition.
Deputy President William Ruto shared the development Tuesday on his Twitter account.
“We associate with the leadership that governor Kibwana has manifested in agreeing to work with us in furthering our country’s development agenda,” President-Elect William Ruto stated. “The Makueni Governor will join the Kenya Kwanza legal team in the ongoing presidential election petition.”
Nine presidential petitions were lodged at the Supreme Court on Monday with eight of them seeking to overturn Ruto’s victory.
Apart from Odinga, other petitioners include John Njoroge Kamau, Daniel Kariuki Ngari, Juliah Nyokabi, Khalef Khalifa, Okiya Omtatah, and Youth Advocacy Africa, and Reuben Kigame.
