KNEC issues directive to all parents over KPSEA registration

The Kenya National and Examination Council (KNEC) directs parents to verify KPSEA registration before portal closure

The Kenya National and Examination Council (KNEC) directs parents to verify KPSEA registration before portal closure.

All parents with students under the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) have been directed to check with their schools to ensure they are registered for the national exams before the portal closes.

The Kenya National and Examination Council (KNEC) has warned parents that once the portal is closed, it will not be reopened to facilitate children who have missed the registration period.

The registration window, which has been running since January 27, is to be closed on Friday, February 28, and all parents have been directed to ensure that all sixth-grade students have registered.

“Please note that today is the last day of registration of candidates for 2025 KPSEA. Please check with the school to ensure your child has been successfully registered and their details captured accurately,” the notice read in part.

“There will be no provision for late registration of candidates once the portal is closed,” the notice continued.

Parents have been urged to take the necessary steps to guarantee that students who qualify for KPSEA do not miss out because of delayed registration.

At the end of their primary education, every Grade 6 pupil must sit for the KPSEA. It replaced the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) under the new Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC).

Warning issued to Kenyans traveling to Canada

This year, KPSEA registration was quite different after KNEC issued protocols and guidelines to guide parents, students, and heads of institutions in registering for the exams.

According to the guidelines, heads of institutions with learners under the regular pathway were required to register their Grade 6 students for KPSEA afresh through KNEC’s online registration portal.

Further, schools were directed to register only bona fide candidates, with a warning that strict action would be taken against fraudsters.

“Registering ghost candidates constitutes an assessment malpractice, which attracts sanctions, including the de-registration of the school as a KNEC assessment center,” KNEC Chief Executive Officer David Njengere warned in a notice during the official launching of the registrations in January.

Candidates who were seeking transfers to other schools were directed to complete the process before the registration portal closed on February 28.
