Mudavadi warns leaders skipping local presidential functions to be isolated from development projects.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has issued a warning to leaders opposing the government, cautioning them about potential exclusion from government-sponsored development initiatives.

He stressed that by failing to meet the demands of their citizens, leaders who fail to attend presidential activities held in their various regions run the risk of becoming developmentally isolated.

“Failing to attend presidential meetings in your regions you lock yourselves out from directly addressing the issues that affect your people and need national intervention,” Mudavadi said on Saturday in Busia during the first day of the President’s five-day visit.

On the other hand, he emphasized that, that leaders who acknowledge the Presidency, regardless of their political affiliations, stand to bring significant benefits to their constituents.

“The President continues to tour different parts of the country and leaders who grace his meetings stand a better chance to have their issues addressed,” he said.

Mudavadi commended the leaders in Busia for displaying leadership qualities by attending the President’s meeting, regardless of their stance on the government’s agenda for the public.

The delegation from the region, led by Busia Governor Paul Otuoma of ODM and Senator Okiya Omtatah of the National Reconstruction Alliance Party (NRA), warmly welcomed the President.

Otuoma is aligned with the Azimio coalition under the leadership of Raila Odinga, whereas Omtatah has been vocal in his criticisms of President Ruto’s administration.

Budalangi MP Raphael Wanjala, a close associate of Odinga was also present during the function and heaped praises on President Ruto.
