Malava Member of Parliament (MP), Moses Malulu Injendi, has died.
The lawmaker’s death was confirmed on Monday, February 17, following weeks in the Intensive Care Unit.
While the cause of death has yet to be revealed, the legislator was reportedly having breathing problems in the days leading up to his death.
Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula confirmed Injendi’s death, calling the late MP a devoted leader.
Wetangula further revealed that Injendi died about 5.15 p.m. at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi.
“It is with profound sadness that I inform you of the demise of our esteemed colleague, Moses Malulu Injendi, who left us this evening, February 17, 2025, at 5.15 pm at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi. ,” the Speaker said in a statement.
“He was the Member of Malava Constituency and Vice Chairman of the Departmental Committee on Education & Research.”

Wetangula added: “His tireless efforts and contribution to our legislative processes, particularly the Education sector and sugar industry aimed at improving the lives of the Kenyan people, will be deeply missed.”
Injendi’s death ends weeks of uncertainty regarding his health. In January, there were widespread rumors that he had died.
However, his family and Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa quickly rejected the claims, stating that the MP was getting treatment.
When asked to clarify what was wrong with the member, Governor Barasa declined, stating that all he was allowed to say was an update on his status.
Injendi, a member of Musalia Mudavadi’s Amani National Congress (ANC), was serving his third term in Parliament since 2013, demonstrating his constituents’ trust in his leadership qualities.
