Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi now says former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i may not blend in with the style of politics of the current opposition.

Recently, Matiang’i, who has declared his bid to vie for presidency, aligned himself with the faction led by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.

Others in the formation are PLP leader Martha Karua and DAP Kenya’s Eugene Wamalwa.

In the recent past, the opposition principals have been holding political rallies with Matiang’i in absence.

According to Ahmednasir, Matiang’i could be strategic in his missing the political rallies.

He observed that the former CS does not identify himself with the abrasive style of politicking as done by Gachagua, who has made it his mission to disparage President William Ruto.

Besides, Matiang’i may not want to play second fiddle to Gachagua, as the latter would want it.

The same strategy could be the one used by former Chief Justice David Maraga.

According to Ahmednasir, the two leaders who have offered themselves for the presidency have their politics branded away from the traditional chest-thumping and verbal attacks on opponents.

“I don’t know whether or not it’s a deliberate strategy on the part of Fred Matiang’i and CJ Maraga not to attend the ‘Let us abuse President Ruto rallies’ organised by Rigathi Gachagua and his POLITICAL DISCIPLES.

But as newcomers to Kenyan politics, Fred & Maraga’s “strategic ambiguity” and deliberate aloofness make sense in avoiding these rallies. First, these rallies kill one’s brand politics, for one is forced to follow a Wamunyoro. Second, you start playing second fiddle to Wamunyoro.

These rallies are principally organised to spread the Wamunyoro gospel. Third, a part from the “Vitimbi like vibes and laughter” these rallies have zero value in selling one’s agenda to the voter. Fred and Maraga’s strategy is something to watch. They seem to be telling Kenyans, “We are different from Wamunyoro and Company LLP,” Ahmednasir observed.

Elsewhere, Professor Makau Mutua opined that Gachagua and Kalonzo Musyoka will soon fall out politically.

Mutua, in a statement on Friday, May 30, claimed that Gachagua was only using Kalonzo to fight President William Ruto.

The professor who was recently appointed as an adviser to Ruto added that the unity between the two leaders had been staged.

Therefore, he predicted that Kalonzo would soon call out Gachagua for his plans and go their separate ways.
