Miguna Miguna now wants President William Ruto and Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki to issue statements over the escape of US murder suspect Kelvin Kang’ethe from the Muthaiga Police Station

In an update via X on Sunday, February 11, Miguna said Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo and the Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome should also issue statements on Kang’ethe’s escape.

The vocal lawyer also questioned why the state is yet to launch a nationwide manhunt for the murder suspect.

“Why is there no nationwide manhunt for murderer, Kang’ethe? Why hasn’t the president, Kithure Kindiki, Raymond Omollo and Japhet Koome issued statements on this embarrassing scandal?” Miguna posed.

He noted that in other countries there would have been a lockdown and every vehicle and home searched immediately.

“In other countries like the US, Nairobi would have been on lockdown and every vehicle and home searched immediately after the lunatic was allowed to flee,” Miguna added.

Kang’ethe escaped police custody on Wednesday, February 7 jumped onto a matatu, and fled to an unknown destination.

Reports indicate that he had requested to meet his lawyer at the station before escaping.

Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) detectives on Thursday traced Kang’ethe’s mobile phone signal to Machakos County where it is believed the suspect found a hiding place after escaping from the police station.

Kang’ethe is alleged to have killed his girlfriend Margaret Mbitu in the US and left her body at the airport.

He was arrested in Nairobi’s Westlands area on January 30 while partying and put in custody pending extradition to the United States where he was supposed to face murder charges.
