Miguna Miguna dares Ruto over constitutional change to award Raila Odinga more powers as an official opposition leader.

On Saturday, December 10, lawyer Miguna Miguna threatened to mobilize the country to defeat President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration.

Should Ruto try to start a campaign in favor of the constitutional change, Miguna vowed to run a massive campaign against him.

The Advocate observed with alarm that by proposing constitutional amendments, Ruto and his political coalition were trying to cover up a catastrophe.

“If Kenya Kwanza wants to invite their waterloo the way Napoleon did in 1815, let them call a referendum on their attempt to mutilate the Constitution of Kenya. “We dare anyone to try,” Miguna cautioned.

Miguna Miguna further reminded President Ruto against forgetting the Kenya Kwanza agenda, which championed the rule of law and anti-constitutional changes.

He asked Ruto to focus on his development agenda and avoid unnecessary distractions.

“That wasn’t the platform on which William Ruto was elected! Thank me later,” he added.

Miguna claims that the Kenyan Constitution is nearly perfect and does not need any changes, unlike what the president has said.

“I’ll say it to clear up any confusion. The Constitution is in perfect condition. No problem. No mistakes. Nothing that needs to be changed or altered, “Miguna declared.

He stated that Kenyans needed the Constitution to be implemented honestly and consistently through the appropriate mechanisms. The seasoned lawyer emphasized that he was prepared to lead a movement to defend the Constitution from pointless amendments.

Miguna’s statements comes after on Friday, December 9, President William Ruto wrote to Members of Parliament, asking them to consider amending the Constitution to create a position for the Leader of the Opposition in the Constitution.

Ruto also asked MPs to craft supportive legislation and dimensions within which the Official Leader of the Opposition will hold the government to account.
