Miguna Miguna advices Kenya Kwanza senior government officials after Kuria outburst on media freedom

Miguna Miguna advices Kenya Kwanza senior government officials after Kuria outburst on media freedom.

Lawyer Miguna Miguna has penned down a statement intended for Kenya Kwanza administration officials.

Miguna described his Monday bit of counsel as his two cents,  which is offered in good faith.

“I believe I would be speaking for millions of Kenyans, many of them those who voted for President William Ruto and support his government, when I remind senior members of his government, especially cabinet secretaries, principal secretaries, and heads of parastatals and other important arms of the state of the following,” he said.

Lawyer Miguna highlighted that power comes with immense responsibilities.

“Whatever you say or do when holding public office carries significant weight and reflects on your office and the government you serve,” he added.

Miguna Miguna also reminded the officers that power is transient and one may have it today and lose it tomorrow.

He also reminded the officers that they should be mindful of what they say.

“Always remember that ultimately, whatever you do or say should serve the public good and advance public interests. If it doesn’t, avoid it,” Miguna added.

Miguna’s statement came just when CS for Investments, Trade and Industry Moses Kuria is in the eye of a storm after he attacked a leading media house.

Kuria, however, promised to make sure that no government agency would be permitted to advertise with the Nation Media Group in an outburst that was roundly condemned by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and several media stakeholders.

The Media Council of Kenya, Media Owners Association, Kenya Union of Journalists (KUJ), Kenya Editors Guild (KEG), and Political Journalists Association of Kenya (PJAK) separately released statements denouncing the remarks as careless and uncalled for and urging Kuria to be held accountable for his derogatory language.
