Mikel Arteta provides Oleksandr Zinchenko, Martin Odegaard update ahead of Man United clash as he faces a number of injury worries.
Injuries are a concern for Mikel Arteta, ahead of this weekend’s eagerly awaited trip to Old Trafford.
Arsenal has a number of important players out for Sunday’s match, despite the fact that they are leading the early-season standings.
Contrarily, United has improved under new manager Erik ten Hag after their appalling 4-0 loss at Brentford and has subsequently won three straight games.
Martin Odegaard and Aaron Ramsdale, the goalie, will be evaluated by Arteta at the last minute. Martin Odegaard and Aaron Ramsdale, the goalie, will be evaluated by Arteta at the last minute.
Oleksandr Zinchenko, who has not yet resumed training after suffering a knee injury, may also be forced to miss the trip.
Mikel Arteta believes that “humble”, selfless Martin Odegaard is the perfect Arsenal captain ahead of his side’s trip to Manchester United on Sunday.
“Those two (Odegaard and Ramsdale) they’ve been assessed. We will see more tomorrow,” Arteta said.
“Hopefully they’ll be available to train with the team. Unfortunately, with Alex (Zinchenko), he’s missed two games and still hasn’t been able to train with the team yet.”
Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey are also expected to face lengthy spells on the sidelines of at least weeks, and for the Egyptian, months.
“With Mo, it’s a little bit easier, we are talking months. With Thomas hopefully, we are talking weeks or even shorter than that,” the Arsenal manager said.
The Gunners have enjoyed a flawless start to the season and go into the weekend top of the Premier League with 15 points from five matches, with Odegaard the club’s joint-leading scorer having netted three times.
