Former President William Ruto’s chief advisor on economic matters Moses Kuria has castigated the current regime for failing to execute the plans he laid out in the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

Kuria served as the Trade CS for a year between October 2022 and October 2023 before he was moved to the Public Service docket.

Looking back, Kuria says much would have been achieved had he been allowed to remain in the ministry and actualise his plans.

Taking to the X social network, Kuria aserted that Ruto extinguished the dream he had for Kenya by taking him out of the Trade docket.

“Today is the 4th of October. Exactly 2 years ago, I left the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry. I had huge dreams for our country. I dreamt of rapid industrialisation. I launched County Aggregatuon and Industrial Parks. I launched many Special Economic Zones and Export Processing Zones. I led huge efforts in Bilateral trade and regional integration. I dreamt that Kenya would be a heaven for Foreign Direcr Investments and Business Process Outsourcung to create millions of jobs for the Gen Z. Looking back at the last two years I am disappointed that this dream has been extinguished . But I refuse to give up on Kenya. We still have a great country with immense potential,” he said.

Kuria resigned from government in July this year.

Until his exit, he had served as Ruto’s senior advisor in Ruto’s Council of Economic Advisors for 11 months.

He was among the pioneer Cabinet Secretaries in Ruto’s regime at its birth in 2022.

Kuria was among those removed during President Ruto’s Cabinet reshuffle in July 2024 at the height of the Gen Z protests.

However, he returned to government a month later when, on August 23, 2024, the president appointed him as a senior advisor to the Council of Economic Advisors.

While resigning three months ago, Kuria expressed pride in his role in advancing Ruto’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

He highlighted how he utilised his skills across various positions to help achieve the goals of the president’s legacy agenda.
