Most selected schools by 2022 KCPE candidates; receive a higher number of applications beyond their capacity.
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu on Monday, January 16 revealed the list of the top ten secondary schools that got more applications than their capacity.
Speaking at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), the CS mentioned a number of prestigious institutions, including Alliance Girls School, Kabianga High School, Nakuru High School, and Nanyuki High School.
However, he emphasized that the results of the placement exercise showed that the majority of candidates did not receive the proper guidance from their local administrators and teachers.
“During the selection process, it became clear that a large number of candidates did not receive proper guidance when choosing a school. These resulted in some schools getting far many applicants against their capacity. No one will be able to go beyond the capacity,” he stated.
“There are schools where we get so many applicants yet the capacity is few hence it is not possible for all candidates to be placed in their dream schools,” he added.
