Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya, on Saturday, May 10 night escaped arrest by unknown individuals at a Mombasa hotel.

In a statement after the incident, Salasya said the individuals who attempted to arrest him did not identify themselves and had no arrest warrant against him.

The DAP-K MP termed the incident a reckless and cowardly attempt to intimidate him.

“I want to categorically condemn the reckless, shameful, and cowardly attempt by unidentified individuals purporting to be police officers who stormed my hotel residence in Mombasa earlier today in an effort to unlawfully arrest me.

“These individuals had no identification, no arrest warrant, and no explanation—just a crude, rogue attempt to intimidate me. Let it be clear: this was not an arrest. It was a criminal act disguised as law enforcement,” Salasya stated.

He called on security agencies to investigate the incident and disclose the people behind his attempted attack.

Salasya went on to say he won’t be intimidated to stop fighting for Kenyans and speaking for the people.

“I demand to know: who sent these thugs? Who gave them orders to violate my rights? Who is so terrified of my voice that they would resort to such cowardice? To those behind this, hear me loud and clear: you will not silence me. You will not threaten me into submission,” said Salasya.

He continued, “No amount of intimidation, harassment, or attempted abduction will stop me from speaking for the people of Kenya and fighting for a country free from tyranny and impunity. I will soldier on. I will not blink. Kenya must and will be free from dictatorship.”

Videos of the attempted arrest, seen by Nairobi Leo, showed masked individuals in plain clothes and police officers in uniform at a hotel where Salasya was residing in Mombasa.

They were however blocked from arresting the Mumias East MP by Mombasa residents and were escorted back to their unmarked vehicle and left the hotel premises.

Salasya who has declared he is vying for presidency in the 2027 general election has been conducting public rallies to popularize his bid.
