Azimio Mt Kenya leaders have castigated William Ruto for launching Uhuru projects terming the development tour as a ‘publicity stunt’.

A section of Azimio leaders from Mt Kenya region has now termed President William Ruto’s development tour of the Central region a ‘publicity stunt’.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, the leaders—Martha Karua, Peter Munya, and Jeremiah Kioni—said Ruto was visiting the area to try to repair his reputation.

They asserted that the visit was of no value as the projects being commissioned had already been started years before.

“They are launching projects started and completed two years ago..some even by the counties,” said Nderitu Mureithi in a joint statement.

“This regime is yet, in fact, to complete any new project on its own,” he said.

He cited the Kiganjo KCC launched Tuesday by Ruto as some of the projects which had been completed and launched.

He said the new taxes introduced and removal of subsidies have overburdened and continued to pile pressure on the residents from the region.

“Kenyans are now hopeless and as leaders, we are not going to keep quiet. Kenyans are struggling yet we are told this is the hustler government,” said Munya.

Mureithi further alleged that the fertilizer being distributed by the government was a donation from the Russian government.

At the same time, the leaders downplayed claims that the region has been sidelined in the Azimio bipartisan talks.

Ruto had received heavy criticism on his Mt Kenya tour in which he launched several projects completed under Former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The leaders challenged President Ruto to focus on delivering on the promises he made during campaigns instead of adding more promises and stories of Raila and Uhuru as things move from bad to worse.
